Heartgard , which contains the active ingredient Ivermectin is used for the control of heartworm in dogs, and it also treats and eliminates hookworm in cats.  Alternatively, by using heartgard plus for dogs you will also be controlling heartworm, hookworm and roundworm that may have infected your precious pet.  This is because heartgard plus also contains another active ingredient called Pyrantel which works alongside Ivermectin to ensure complete protection against these parasites.
