Japanese bento boxes
The Japanese spend a lot of time creating cuisine that both looks and tastes good. In fact they are often particularly obsessed with the way a dish looks. Presentation of all things, including food, is very important in their society. Often it is the woman of the house that is responsible for preparing packed lunches, bento boxes, for the rest of her family. Regardless of what you may think of the gender roles in Japanese society, this is not what I am here to talk about today. I am simply going to discuss how things are and what type of cooking is involved for their Japanese bento boxes.
Usually the bento box will be made up of varying parts. Different boxes are used for different things. This helps with the presentation of the food and also helps to keep separate flavors separate. For example there is a Zojirushi Mr. Bento lunch box that is made up of four separate containers. These vary in size and also their level of insulation and type of lid that they have. This is because bento boxes are used for different things. For example, on the Zojirushi Mr. Bento lunch box there is a container that can be used for soup. This has a special screw on lid to ensure that there are no spillages. There is another container that is used for holding rice. This one is insulated so that the rice may remain warm for hours. This is a lovely touch that means a woman can prepare lunch in the morning but it can still be eaten warm at lunch time.
Of course there are many different kinds of Japanese lunch boxes that are available in Japan as well as overseas. If you would like to read a further Zojirushi Mr. Bento lunch box review, please follow the link to the site Japanese rice cookers.
