Is The Mattel Mindflex Game Fake?
Starting a site all about kids toys I decided to do the first of many toy reviews. As i hope to cover all the top toys for kids I decided to first write about some of the best selling toys online. What I came across was the Mattel Mindflex Game.
This is a serious piece of kit. Having looked at it in depth and read countless reviews of the game I can now tell you that if you want to know is the Mindflex Game fake, then no, it isn’t. It was difficult to beleive at first after reading what the game is but it’s true, it really does work.
You really can control a ball, move it around a course, up and down, through hoops, and all by the power of the mind.
It works by utilizing a simple head set that reads brainwave patterns. It is up to the player to slowly learn how to move the ball by using their powers of concentration. By concentrating and then relaxing the mind the ball can be moved around a course of your own design.
It does tale practice and patience but it seems that with a supernatural headset and a mind boggling array of courses, the kids just can’t seem to stay away from it.
If you want a kids toy that is going to keep them thoroughly engrossed and teach them how to have better mind control then this is the perfect toy.
There really is nothing similar to this on the market at the present time. I can certainly see why it is such a good seller this year. Although not giving the zhu zhu pets a run for there money yet it is slowly becoming the most popular choice for a gift for children this year.

Interesting. Did you try touching the three sensors together? Because your body naturally produces electrical impulses (from the rest of your nervous system), so it’s plausible that the brain sensor thought it was reading brain waves, or, possibly, detected the circuit connection and tried to interpret background electrical noise as brain waves (because it thought it should be reading something, so it read whatever random electrical background fluctuations it detected). Supposedly, though, it’s supposed to measure the difference between the ear sensors (a “ground”, if you want to use the technical term) and the head sensor, so if you clip them all together and it still turns on? I might be a little skeptical. Given the extant laws about false advertising, together with the disgrace it would be to Mattel if a highly-touted novelty toy turned out to be a sham, it seems less likely to me that it works off of skin conductance, and more likely, perhaps, that the sensor detected varying levels of static charge from the atmosphere and attempted to interpret that as brain waves. Interesting question, though–try it out and see!
I bought this game for my daughter for her b-day. We put the headset on her and it instantly came to life.
Pretty cool, right?
Well for the most part all of us were able to make it work. My son with ADD (he’s 19) had a more difficult time, but finally got it to work by NOT concentrating on the ball.
Here’s my dilemma. After everyone was done playing with it. I decided to see if I could “de-bunk” it. I clipped the sensors to two finger, and then covered the head sensor with my thumb. It instantly came to life and shot up the highest I had seen. Then it responded like it had when it was on my head.
So is this really working off mind waves? Or just the fact that it is touching the body, and the fan is randomly turning on and off?
I just am not convinced this is really using mind waves.
It is still good entertainment, and I’m not telling my 10 year old what I think. Kinda of like ruining the whole Santa thing…..
