Finding Great Gifts for Cooks

A good place to start when trying to find great Gifts for Cooks, is to see what other people are buying.  Looking at the best sellers lists gives you an idea of the kind of Kitchen Gadgets that are popular today.  So even if you are not a cook yourself you can find out what cooks want.

There are so many things to choose from, after all the kitchen is the heart of the home.  Full of toys, gadgets, cookware and endless food paraphernalia.  Cook books, recipe cards, the dog’s bed – its all there in the average kitchen.  Cooks Gifts should generally be something they might not buy for themselves.  That doesn’t mean they need be expensive items, just not the basic ‘must have’ things we all buy in order to cook for our families.

Slightly more interesting things like a funky pasta machine for example.  Cooks generally love to experiment and increase their repertoire of dishes.  But with dried pasta so readily available this is hardly a necessity.  But, making homemade pasta is enjoyable, therapeutic and simply tastes completely different.  You can buy this kind of kitchen gift for under $25, but it is something many of us just would not get around to buying for ourselves.  After all, there is always something we need more.

Thinking about what kind of food the cook in your life enjoys is also a good starting point.  Do they love pizza?  Then a pizza stone will mean they can at last enjoy the taste and crispy delight of a stone baked pizza without needing to build a brick oven in the backyard.  Again, this is a reasonably cheap gift idea, but one that is a little out of the ordinary.

Recipe books are of course invaluable gift ideas.  My suggestion would be that whenever buying a new kitchen gadget or appliance as a gift, accompany it with a relevant cookbook.  So a great Italian recipe book to accompany the pasta maker machine, or a book of yogurt recipes to accompany a yogurt maker.
