Earthmaker Aerobic Composter (120 gallon)

Most gardeners know the benefits of home composting.  But if space is limited it can be difficult to find the right system to use.  The Earthmaker Aerobic Composter is fantastic as the 120 gallon drum never fills up and never needs to be left to continue digesting.  This is Continual Cycle Composting at its very finest.

The problem most people encounter when home composting, is what to do when the compost bin fills up.  Of course many people resort to owning two or more garden composters, which is practical but only if space allows.  In a smaller garden there simply may not be room for two or more plastic compost bins.  But an Exaco Earthmaker Aerobic Composter is the one bin you really should only ever need one of.

The principle is simple.  A relatively tall compost bin is built with baffles that seperate the composter into three ‘chambers’.  You begin by adding kitchen scraps and garden waste to the top section through the lid.  Each week you wiggle the baffles using the turning tool provided.  This allows partially composted material that is in small particles to fall through to the chamber below.

Even with a relatively large family of six or seven you should find that just as you think you are going to fill up the composter, so much material falls down to the chambers below, you still have plenty of room to add more.  The beauty of the system is that once the bin is established (which usually takes around two months), organic material is turned into compost surprisingly quickly.   This is due to it being continually mixed up, and also because all the smaller particles are allowed to filter out.  Small particles break down more quickly than large ones as there is more surface area for all the composting bacteria and enzymes to work on.

If you only have space, or only want to give up space, for one garden composter your best option is definitely the Earthmaker Aerobic Composter (120 gallon).  It is the only continuous cycle composter ensuring you always have somewhere to put your kitchen scraps and garden waste.
